IF YOU MAKE IT TO #EXF18 FROM OUTSIDE MADRID, YOU HAVE TO MAKE TIME TO DISCOVER THE CITY
MADRID IN JUNE
In June you can already feel the sun rays on your skin, the days getting longer and the nice weather making bard terraces full to the brim. The atmosphere smells of the end of spring, where a walk in Retiro Park is the perfect plan to put and end to your work day. During the first six months of the year, Madrid fills up with color for you to hit the streets and enjoy the endless options that the city has on offer. These are some of the plans we recommend:
Going out for drinks in Ponzano
This never fails, if you ask anywhere around the city where you can find the best atmosphere, the answer will always be… Ponzano! Enjoy the afterwork without leaving the Chamberí neighbourhood. If you are in Madrid, visiting Ponzano is a must.
BEERS AT CONDE DUQUE
Conde Duque Square
The tapas route through Conde Duque is a must in your Madrid to-do list. There are some that call it the “Western Malasaña”. It is an area with a chill atmosphere, from the parks to the squares. It’s great if you’re looking to enjoy a couple of beers around Madrid.
A STROLL THROUGH MALASAÑA
From Bilbao to the Spanish Square
One of neighbourhoods that you can’t miss out on is Malasaña. Wandering. That is the true spirit of this neighbourhood from Madrid. Stroll through the narrow streets, breathe in and relax at its squares, and discover every corner of this district where art, leisure and history collide.
MADRID RIO BY BIKE
How does a bike path through Madrid sound? A narrow trail that follows the Manzanares River for as long as 7 kilometers through the heart of the city. Sounds terrific, we know.
A TRAVELING EXHIBITION AT THE PRADO MUSEUM
Paseo del Prado
You can’t miss out on the different exhibitions at one of the best museums of the capital: The Prado Museum. So do not overthink it and head over to one of the most important museums in the world as well as one of the most visited ones.
SUNSET AT CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES
42 Alcalá Street
From the rooftop of The Circulo de Bellas Artes we can find one of the most sought out and incredible views of the city. Located in between Alcala street and Gran Via, the rooftop terrace displays the “old town”, el Paseo de la Castellana, el Paseo del Padro, the Cibeles Square, the emblematic Metropolis building and the city chaos.
Parque del Retiro
One of the best ways to have a rest, after a hard day is to buy a book at the Salesian Bookstore and spend some time at the wonderful Retiro Park. It was once the domain of the royal circle but is now the city’s prized green lung. The central lake is peppered with rowboats; the towering fence is circled by lithe joggers; and the Cristal Palace, exhibit flora and fauna from the Philippines.
Sunset at Templo de Debod
The temple of Debod is a spectacular place to see the best sunset and spend the afternoon. This place was a gift from Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser for the Spanish participation in the Unesco campaign of the 1960s to save the sanctuaries of the Nubian region.
This opulent triangular structure provides a great welcome to all tourists and locals who are visiting Madrid. This building was built between 1907 and 1911 for the company Unión y el Fénix Español, which placed its figure and symbol of Ave Fénix on its dome. In 1972, it was the insurance company Metropolis that acquired the property.
